Going on a road trip is a favorite travel option for many, and unfortunately, it's not possible to take this type of trip in the far north due to the lack of road infrastructure and the long distances involved.

However, there is another way to travel that's a little less orthodox and allows for almost as much freedom as a car, and sometimes much more.

A floatplane doesn't require any infrastructure to operate; it's the ultimate vehicle for covering long distances and reaching the most remote wilderness regions of the world, and it's very similar to a road trip. The road trip then becomes a flight trip, and from there, the experience truly takes you to another level.

From Kuujjuaq to the Labrador Sea, via the George River and the Golden Peninsula, this is a journey to experience with friends.

From the first day, arctic tundra, craters, and waterfalls pass by on both sides of the floatplane, announcing our arrival at the George River Plateau and the Torngat Mountains.

At Wedge Hills Lodge, located on the banks of the George River, you are at the gateway to the southern ecozone of the Arctic Cordillera, and it's up to you to discover this legendary region where the spectacle of fjords, icebergs, and polar bears is captivating.

The Quebec-Labrador Arctic Peninsula is a wild and isolated region, known for its unspoiled nature and breathtaking Arctic landscapes.

On your agenda are all sorts of activities to spice up your discoveries: a fatbike ride in the Moraine Desert Valley, an excursion on the ice river, a day in the fjords where you can go pack rafting, hiking, photography, and even iceberg hunting by floatplane over Iceberg Alley.

At the same time, you'll discover the Golden Peninsula and Torngat Mountains National Park freely and at your own pace. Our naturalist-interpreter guide will assist you throughout your trip.

On the Golden Peninsula, you'll love

Crossing fascinating post-glacial tundra landscapes, encountering caribou, seeing waterfalls and cascades that outflow from the top of cliffs, hiking along the seashore, visiting nesting birds, tasting iceberg ice, and spending the night bivouacking under a tent in the heart of nature. Definitely far from mass tourism and only in small groups.
