Wedge Hills Lodge, founded in 1960, sits perched on a hilltop overlooking the majestic George River just above the 57th parallel north in Nunavik, Québec. Nestled in a bay and sheltered from the strong current of the river, the strategic placement of the lodge offers spectacular views of the river and surrounding mountains, as well as protection from the strong northern winds.
Accessible only by air, the facilities at Wedge Hills Lodge have undergone extensive renovations in 2018 and 2019 in order to serve our guests to the highest standards possible in such a remote area. To put things in perspective, the city center of Montréal is 882 miles away. That's out there!
A step in the right direction
Going solar to better serve our guests and the environment…
To lessen our carbon footprint, and to provide guests with a peaceful experience in keeping with the pristine surroundings of the lodge, in 2020 we invested in an 18-panel solar system that supplies power to the entire lodge. Guests will no longer hear the distracting drone of a diesel generator, and they will also have electricity 24 hrs a day for added comfort during their stay.
Double Occupancy Rooms
Featuring 1 double bed or 2 single beds in a cozy log-sided one-room cabin, night stand, dresser, direct vent propane heater with thermostat, private powder room with sink and toilet, a shared timber frame porch with chairs and view of the river. Two extra large rainfall shower facilities in a separate cabin only steps away.
Featuring 4 single beds and 1 double bed in a log-sided 3-bedroom cabin, night stands, dressers, direct vent propane heater including separate drying room, full bathroom with sink, toilet and shower, and a cozy sitting area overlooking the river with 2 sofas and a wood burning stove.
The lounge is at the heart of our lodge as a place for guests to convene and warm up by the cozy fire. Every evening at 5:00, this is where we host a cocktail hour before dinner when guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails at the bar while sharing stories of their day.
In the evening after dinner, it is the perfect place to unwind with a book on one of the sofas, or take a dip in the relaxing wood-fired cedar spa on the adjoining deck. With floor to ceiling windows, the lounge offers 180 degree views of the river below, as well as a gateway for spectacular northern light displays during clear evenings.
The Dining Room
Enjoy breaking bread with friends and family gazing out over the river as our chef prepares delicious dishes to suit everyone’s palette, ranging from home-style Canadian dishes, to unique in-house creations.
The dinning room offers an intimate setting and rustic feel with woodwork harvested from the surrounding territory, and a unique wood stove from Norway as the centerpiece.
Personal service and attention to detail leave all guests with full bellies and looking forward to their next meal.
