Through this unique adventure, you'll discover the must-see attractions of the Golden Peninsula as well as some of the most secret, off-the-beaten-track sites. An adventure in the Arctic region, traveling by floatplane and bivouacking in the wildest places.

The floatplane isn't just a means of transportation; it's also an integral part of the fun. The route is mapped out to fly over the most spectacular views, and the pilot will be happy to tilt the floatplane to allow you to take a photo or make an extra loop over a remarkable landmark. Whether it's a waterfall or an iceberg, all you have to do is ask, since throughout the trip the floatplane and the pilot are exclusively dedicated to you!

Aboard the floatplane, you will travel along the coasts of Ungava and Labrador and photograph the unique behavior of polar bears.

The adventure does not lack comfort, during your first and last day of the trip, you will stay in quality accommodations with breakfast included. During your photographic journey by floatplane on the Golden Peninsula, accompanied by your travel guide, you will set up the bivouac in wild places to be ready to see the movement of the fauna and the most beautiful landscapes at daybreak.

Get closer to wildlife from an “Itinerant Bivouac Safari” camp

The traveling bivouac safari trip is the ultimate way to encounter animal life! While the floatplane quickly reaches the most remote places where the fauna is not disturbed, the bivouac under the tent allows you to stay on the observation sites from daybreak when the animals are most active.

As you travel by floatplane, everyone has their own private tent. Mutual aid and the full cooperation of everyone makes it possible to set up the bivouac quickly.

Good to know :

During the transfer days, different accommodation arrangements will be offered to single people, couples and groups of more than 3 people (maximum of 4). If these arrangements do not meet your needs, please let us know.

Flight from Montreal to Kuujjuaq airport. Upon arrival in Kuujjuaq, picked up by the Air Inuit coordinator for the charter flight to Wedge Hills Lodge. Upon arrival at the Lodge, welcome by the manager and meeting with your wildlife guide and the floatplane pilot. Welcome cocktail and presentation of the program for the days to come.

Night in a chalet, functional and comfortable, located in front of the George River (world famous salmon river) surrounded by the landscapes of the arctic tundra. The location is ideal to start your journey on the great Golden Peninsula and to enjoy a magnificent dinner in the company of your guides.

Overnight at the lodge.

To see, to do near the lodge – climb to the summit of Wedge Hills to discover the environment of subarctic landscapes, seek out for wildlife. It’s the time of year when wild berries carpet the tundra and bears love it. Watch the black bear feed on blueberries, visit Sorrel Waterfall, where peregrine falcons can be seen soaring over the river canyon inaccessible rock faces. You can also simply relax in a hot water spa, stroll, walk on the banks of the river, bike on the barren plateaus of the tundra, or perhaps observe the aurora borealis. A few steps from your room you will find the lounge. It is the ideal place to meet friends, to share your excursions of the day, to look at photos, videos and why not taste some “Golden Peninsula Style” appetizers.

Additional information

Our routes are plotted to fly over the most spectacular scenic areas and your pilot will be pleased to maneuver the aircraft in order for you to take pictures, or to make an additional loop over a remarkable point. All you need to do is ask, since for the entire trip, the aircraft and pilot are exclusively dedicated to you. Our experienced pilots have extensive knowledge of the Quebec-Labrador Peninsula. If during your trip we must cancel outings by floatplane due to adverse weather conditions, the unused fuel of the aircraft will be refunded. The Northern Lights and wildlife observation are unpredictable observations cannot be guaranteed.
