Trek above the Hebron Fjord in Labrador

Trek above the Hebron Fjord in Labrador

Step into one of the wildest corners of the North. High above the largest inland fjord in the Torngat Mountains, your path winds across a landscape carved by ice, wind, and time itself. This six-day guided trek immerses you in the raw heart of Labrador—an untouched wilderness where every step reveals a story written in stone and water.

From your fixed base camp, you’ll set out each day with a small group of explorers to trace looped trails that overlook the inner Hebron Fjord. Few places on Earth let you walk for miles above a fjord so vast, so rugged, and so alive with contrast. The fjord and its inland lake stretch more than 70 kilometers, their walls rising nearly 800 meters straight out of the sea. Here, mountains plunge into turquoise depths, and the silence of the North surrounds you like nowhere else on the planet.

As you climb the North Crest Trail, the world opens up in every direction—an endless sweep of lakes, deltas, rivers, waterfalls, and glacier-sculpted valleys. Snow tongues linger in hidden gullies; the air is crisp, pure, and charged with the energy of the Arctic. Under the sun, the fjord transforms: morning light dances in shades of turquoise and cobalt, and by evening, the cliffs blaze with amber and gold. Standing at the edge of a 3,000-foot precipice, looking down upon the still water below, you understand what true wilderness feels like.

The North Crest Trail welcomes experienced trekkers with a sense of wonder. Multiple routes offer something for every curiosity—wildlife watchers, flora enthusiasts, or simply those drawn to the immensity of the land. Your seasoned guide leads the way, sharing local knowledge and ensuring your journey flows safely through this spectacular terrain. With only a small daypack on your shoulders, you walk light and free, immersed in the rhythms of the tundra.

For those in good physical condition and a hunger for true Arctic adventure, this expedition delivers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And when it’s time to leave, the story isn’t over—you’ll rise into the sky aboard a floatplane for a breathtaking flight over the entire Hebron Fjord and the mysterious Merewether Crater, its turquoise pool glimmering like a jewel in the wild expanse below.
