Atlantic salmon fishing on the George River continues to produce excellent results with large salmon and good quantities.

When fishing for salmon on the George, you quickly realize that it is a powerful river. Its flow of 3,000 cubic meters per second drains a gigantic watershed of 41,000 square kilometers. At its mouth at Ungava Bay, the George is 14 km wide. This 560 km river is dotted with numerous rapids that make it a true paradise for Atlantic salmon fishing.

[A recent study highlights the increase in salmon migration to the Arctic Ocean, a direct consequence of climate change.]

According to fishing statistics, the increase in small salmon catches in 2023 is 87% compared to the last five (5) years. We also observe in 2023 an increase in releases of 109% compared to the last five (5) years.

These data allow us to understand that marine ecosystems are undergoing real transformations and that the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean are helping to maintain exceptional fishing potential on the famous George River.
