The Golden Peninsula Beneath Your Wings
Each morning, the roar of the radial engine from your mythical private Beaver breaks the Arctic silence. Upon takeoff, you leave the known world behind. As you gain altitude, the vastness of the Labrador Plateau fills you with awe... An endless carpet of lichen and moss stretches as far as the eye can see, carved by millennia of ice. The George River snakes through this tundra dotted with thousands of lakes, tracing silver ribbons across the landscape. Look closely, and you will spot the faint trails left by migrating caribou.
The Hidden Gems of the Great North from Above
As the lakes and rivers unfold below, you soar over gorges, canyons, and countless waterfalls and cascades. Suddenly, the pilot banks into a descent: you are approaching a striking spectacle. A magnificent waterfall on the Ford River crashes directly against a wall of stone. The roaring waters smash into a powerful vortex, a chasm of white foam visible from miles away. Propelled with the force of a cannon, this raw power reminds you that you are entering an untamed kingdom. Then, far off to the right, the jagged, bluish crest of the Torngat Mountains finally comes into view. Far ahead, a thin white line carves the horizon: the sea ice of Ungava Bay. Crossing the 59th parallel, the landscape shifts radically: trees bow to the lichen. The Arctic tundra takes full possession of the land, and brilliant tongues of snow appear to the east on the hidden flanks of the mountains. It is then that you reach Skylake, a perched lake suspended high above a fjord, where the water touches the clouds. This is your first stop of the day. The Beaver banks, throttles back, and touches down smoothly on the water. The radial engine cuts out. The propeller blades come to a standstill.
First Steps on an Untouched Land
A silence of absolute, almost surreal purity fills the cabin. You open the door, and the crisp Northern air fills your lungs. Your boots finally tread upon this ancient, timeless tundra. Before you, Skylake stretches majestically, cradled by its 3-billion-year-old mineral desert. The foot exploration begins now, on a land completely untouched by human footprints...
