Discover the wildlife of the Quebec-Labrador Arctic Peninsula by joining this incredible excursion to observe migratory Arctic Char.
The Arctic Char spawning season offers the opportunity to witness one of the largest animal migrations in the world. Every year, millions of Arctic Char leave the ocean to return to spawn in the streams and rivers where they were born.
The Arctic Char run is a spectacular natural phenomenon that transforms some rivers into breeding grounds for thousands of red and silver fish. The char are so numerous that they are visible on the surface, creating a striking image. In the narrow passages of some shallow rivers, hundreds of Arctic Char can be seen making their way through rapids and waterfalls, sometimes leaping out of the water to clear obstacles.
Polar bears, black bears, and sometimes even wolves come to fish in the clear, shallow waters.
This impressive wildlife spectacle, which usually occurs at the end of the Arctic summer, around mid-August and early September, is an experience not to be missed.
